Director of Catering Jimmy Thornton has been at the helm for over 18 years and has provided a steady hand to the entire  operation to ensure every detail takes on precise attention. “Our brides and grooms want to be the center of attention, and at The Grand Summit Hotel we can assure that their event is the focus of our very sophisticated staff” explains Thornton.

The Grand Summit Hotel’s signature wedding menu has become the Global Food Station Wedding Reception. The guest has a choice of over 21 hot and cold hors d’oeuvres to choose from to begin the event followed by a choice of 11 captain’s stations. Signature stations include the Italian, Asian, Caribbean, and Southern, each offering an array of offerings sure to impress your family and friends.

“I can assure you that the traditional wedding and Bar/Bat Mitzvah format is alive and well” adds Assistant Director of Catering Teresa Garcia-Rosado. A veteran of the property for close to 17 years, Garcia-Rosado is at the service of the hotel’s appreciative guests from inception to the final song to ensure her client’s comfort. “We are now catering to a fairly equal share of guests who want the new cocktail style wedding and those preferring the traditional format.” Adds Thornton;“The cocktail reception has always been among the most popular time of the event, and that has ushered in the desire to create that setting for the length of the event.”

Food remains the centerpiece of The Grand Summit Hotel and the culinary leadership of Executive Chef Charles Burke has ensured a premium product for guests of the hotel under his direction through the past 20 years. “When a guest wants to meet with me personally to discuss a custom menu, it is my pleasure to do so” offers Executive Chef Burke. “Unlike a large corporate hotel where the chef is often distracted with corporate reporting, at The Grand Summit Hotel the customer is at the center of everything we do and I am happy to offer my guidance as it relates to menu selection.”

“Some of the most popular culinary choices we are seeing currently include our Salumi Station with Craft Beers, Artisan Crafted Cocktails and Vegetarian Stations and Carnival Style Desserts including Cotton Candy and Snow Cones” offers Banquet Manager Kathy Obropta. Kathy stays involved from planning through the close of the event to ensure a smooth flow to the program. “Things can change in the middle of an event depending on the host, and it’s my job to make sure the event comes off flawlessly” adds Obropta.
